Time To Celebrate

The New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-3 in Game 6 of the World Series.

The Yankees celebrate their 27th World Series, while the Phillies walk off with sad faces.

Yankees left fielder, Hideki Matsui, gets the World Series MVP with 6 RBIs and with an home run in the bottom of the second inning.

Yankees shortstop, Derek Jeter, had a batting average of .407 in the World Series. He finished Game 6 with two runs and three hits. Jeter played a huge role in the Yankees success and also left fielder, Johnny Damon as well with a .364 batting average during the series.

The Yankees line-up produced when needed and that provided them with the World Series Championship.

Yankees starting pitcher, Andy Pettitte, pitched a good with with a little pressure during the game. He pitched five innings, with three strike outs and three earned runs.

Phillies shortstop, Jimmy Rollins and center fielder, Shane Victorino, was hit less. First baseman, Ryan Howard, stroke out 13 times during the World Series, which is a record.

The Phillies line-up wasn’t productive and that’s what hurt their chances.

World Series On The Way

After defeating the Los Angeles Angels in six games, the New York Yankees will appear in the World Series against the National League East division leaders, Philadelphia Phillies. Two teams that have good World Series experience and understands the amount of work it takes to win a championship.

The Yankees will have a strong pitching staff and bullpen to work with. Yankees starting pitcher, C.C. Sabathia has played a huge role with the Yankees success this post-season. Sabathia is undefeated in this post-season and he'll have a great line-up to compete against.

Nick Swisher, Mark Teixeira and Jorge Posada haven't produced up to expectations for the Yankees. Phillies starting pitcher, Cliff Lee will have the advantage in that area. Lee has been just as or even more dominate then C.C. Sabathia is the post-season.

Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley and Ryan Howard have been a disappointment when facing the Yankees. With the Phillies having their three star players facing problems when up against the Yankees, this will make things hard for their team.

The Yankees have the edge against the Phillies in the World Series. Their bullpen is better, but their line-up will need to perform, but besides their minor problems, the Yankees have the advantage. The Yankees will be the World Series Champions.

Today Burress Goes to Prison

Former New York Giants receiver, Plaxico Burress, will start serving his two year sentencing today. He’s expected to make three prison stops; the first will be Rikers Island with the other two not known at this time.

Attending Latin Quarters and shooting himself in the leg in November of 2008 is the reason why he’ll be serving prison time. This situation has ended his NFL career temporarily, but Burress wants to make a return to the league when he’s out of prison.

This may sound crazy, but I’m rooting for Burress to make a return. I’m not saying it will happen, but I hope it does. Everyone makes mistakes, but getting a second chance is what counts.

Burress shouldn’t be going to prison; I believe his punishment was too harsh.

The most he should have gotten was probation. Speaking with a police offer, he told me people who rob stores get less punishment than Burress.

Not being able to see his wife give birth on Thanksgiving Day will be heart breaking for his family.

What Burress did wasn’t smart and I’m pretty sure he’s learning his lesson. Prison is for criminals and Burress isn’t a criminal. He was treated unfair, because he was a celebrity with a bad image.

Burress shouldn’t be going to prison today.

Matter of Time

After the New York Yankees swept the Boston Red Sox in four games and now are leading the AL East by 6.5 games, AL East Champions looks more realistic. In the last 10 games the Yankees are 9-1 and haven't slowed down since the All-Star game. Currently the Yankees are 73-43, which is the best in Major League Baseball.

In the middle of an easy series against the Settle Mariners, which the Yankees are leading 2-0 and having the Oakland Athletics's up next; this smells easy ride to AL East Champions for the Yankees.

The Yankees have only lost twice with eleven victories in the mouth of August. Help has been provided for them with the Red Sox dealing with injuries from Outfielder, Jason Bay and struggles from DH David Ortiz. Bay hasn't been comfortable with his hamstring and the numbers haven't been impressive. The steroid allegations involving Ortiz has been a factor in his performance.

The nail is in the wood and it's only a matter of time until the Yankees become AL East champions. Everything seems to be successful, with pitcher, CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnette performing well and first baseman Mark Teixeira having 30 home runs, 86 RBIs and great field play.

The Red Sox better hope for a Wild Card spot or their hopes are out the window.

The Yankees Got It

With the New York Yankees sweeping the Boston Red Sox and now having the best record in Major League Baseball; I believe it’s safe to say the Yankees will win the AL East. They have a 5.5 game lead with the Red Sox being the closet.

The Red Sox only hope is the Wild Card and some believe those chances are slim. After getting swept by the Yankees in four games, their confidence has been thrown at the window.

The Red Sox are 63-48 and they haven’t been the same since the All-Star game. Outfielder, Jason Bay has been suffering injury problems and Designated Hitter David Ortiz has a head full of controversy. Ortiz was really smart to have a press conference in the middle of a “butt whopping” by the Yankees.

The Yankees are rolling, with the pitching staff and line-up producing. Not doing anything at the trade deadline didn’t hurt them at all, but nothing was needed. Pitcher, Jared Washburn could have helped, but the Detroit Tigers stole him like a high school girlfriend.

The AL East belongs to the Yankees. The last 10 games, the Yankees are 7-3 and the Red Sox are 4-6.

If the Yankees keep playing this way, going back to the World Series is more possible then any other team in the AL.

Their only problem is the Los Angeles Angles. The Angles are 66-44 with the AL West lead and their four games up. The Angles have owned the Yankees in recent history.

Besides the Angels, the Yankees have a almost clear shot at the World Series.

Yankees Are Cruzing

Defeating the Boston Red Sox yerterday night 13-6, after losing eight consecutive games against them this season was huge for the New York Yankees. Things seem to be moving in motion; since the All-Star game the Yankees are 11-5 and their 4-1 in August. They're current 66-42 with the AL East lead.

Yankees catcher, Jorge Posada said after the game that the team has been playing a lot better then the beginning of the season. He feels the improvement came from the mound and the line-up's performance at the plate. Hoping it continues is something Posada is doing.

Red Sox fans better hope this doesn't continue. Since the All-Star game the Red Sox are 8-11 and fell to second in the AL East. Things have turned around completely and according to yesterdays lost, the Red Sox aren't looking good.

Red Sox pitcher John Smoltz hasn't been impressive this season. He's 2-5 with a 8.33 ERA on the season. In order words, this is his last season.

The Yankees need to take control in this series against the Red Sox. If they can succeed in this series, the Yankees have a better chance of winning the AL East. The Red Sox confidence will be "shot" with a hard schedule coming up. Facing the Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers and the Yankees again in two weeks.

If Yankees win this series, I believe they win the AL East.
